There is nothing more fun than getting to dress up and pretend to be someone else for a little while; even children have been doing it for years. Every October 31, all of the children in the neighborhood get all dressed up as their favorite superheroes, princesses, witches, and monsters, and go door-to-door asking for candy. This is one of the best holidays of the year because, not only do children get to be anyone that they want, but also, they are rewarded for it by receiving little treats.
However, children are now wearing costumes throughout the entire year. Why would parents want to spend money on an outfit that their children only wore once, especially since it seems like costumes are going up in price every year? It only makes sense for parents to buy their children's costumes one size larger than what their child wears so that they can wear their costumes after Halloween is over.
It is not at all surprising to see that quite a few adults have chosen to take part in the Halloween fun as well. Throughout the entire month of October, adults are throwing all sorts of costume parties and social gatherings; it seems like everyone is in the Halloween spirit and wants to share it with all of their friends.
People have even started creating other events where it is not only acceptable to dress up in costumes, but it is encouraged. For instance, when the final Harry Potter book was released, many of the major bookstore chains held costume contests to see who could look the most like their favorite characters.
It has also become normal to see people dressed up at the midnight showings of some of the more popular movie debuts. Hardcore fans find that it makes the experience a little more fun for themselves, as well as the other people who are fanatics. Getting to pretend to be someone else for an hour or two simply gives people a chance to let go of stress and have a little fun.
